MILLER ELEMENTARY STUDENTS HOP AROUND FOR HEARTS

CHEYENNE — Scattered throughout Story Gymnasium Wednesday were hundreds of students — most of them jumping. As the loud dance music sang through the speakers, Deming-MillerElementary students were hopping away with a leap rope or were awaiting their convert. It was the school’s annual Jump Rope for Heart, which raises money for the American Heart Association. The event shows children about the importance of exercise.

Students collect pledges and then, on the rotating basis, leap rope for two minutes at a time. The Jump Rope for Heart lasts about two hours with each studentjumping approximately 10 times. Miller sixth-grade student Jordan Crotsenberg said the morningspent jump roping is a whole lot of fun. Miller fifth-grade student Samantha Johnson said she wants to jump rope. 80 for the American Heart Association and has been working hard at jumping rope in gym class.
